His works are unique to California and he has painted this area exclusively for twenty years. The only sign of man in Wassell's work is either a trail or dirt road. |

He hikes through the local wilderness with his sketchpad in his backpack. He does a drawing on the spot and later transfers the drawing to canvas. None of these landscapes can be reached by car: you must hike to them. The works are title after the trail or exact spot draw. This is done because his patrons requested this so they might try to find the exact spot for themselves.
