ECarol Simson: Best of Show 2015ligibility
This exhibition is open to professional and amateur artists. All entries must be original artwork executed within the past two years. Work previously shown in any BAA competition will not be eligible. No instructor-supervised work accepted. All work MUST be for sale. All works must be framed to professional standards. Every piece must be glazed either with glass or plexiglass. The exception would be canvas and acrylic canvas. No saw-tooth hangers. Diptychs, triptychs and monotypes are not accepted. Excessive use of dry media will disqualify the work. All work will be screened for compliance. The compliance committee’s decision is final.
  • Transparent Watercolor — On a single piece of untreated watercolor paper.
  • Aqua Media — All paintings must be executed only in water based media. Water-based media on watercolor canvas, acrylic canvas, paper, illustration board, watercolor board, clayboard, or yupo may be entered. If collage is incorporated, only paper painted in water media will be accepted. No 3-D work, commercially printed material or gold leaf.

Artists may submit up to four (4) works for consideration, two works in each category. All works chosen will be subject to a 40% commission for members and 50% commission for non-members if sold during the course of the exhibition. Work that is sold will be removed after the reception and must be replaced with another piece of similar value. Payment for works sold will be made at the beginning of the month following the sale. All decisions of the juror are final.
The Buenaventura Gallery will exercise due care and handling of artwork, but will not be responsible for loss or damage. Insurance for artwork is the sole responsibility of the artist.
By entering this competition the artist agrees to abide by the exhibition rules and waives all claims against the BAA and the CGCWS. By entering this competition, artist agrees to allow Buenaventura Art Association to use images of artwork in promotional materials free of charge.

“The challenge is to know when to stop and let the medium take over. That’s why the most successful paintings seem almost effortless. I always look forward to interacting with art patrons and other artists to give feedback about the creative process and affirm that visual expression is one of life’s greatest joys.”
