Buenaventura Art Association (BAA) is a foundational arts organization in Ventura – a 60-year-old institution devoted to sustaining Ventura County’s cultural character and artistic resources by developing visual artists in all stages of their careers.

BAA was started in 1954 by a group of Ventura community, civic and business leaders. They recognized the importance of the arts in a community and wanted to encourage and foster Ventura’s cultural growth.
  • In support of that mission Buenaventura Art Association (among other things):
  • Sponsors an annual collegiate student scholarship competition and offers exhibit space to junior high and high school art students.
  • Runs two galleries and one community exhibit space at Community Memorial Hospital
  • Provides educational workshops and training
  • Sponsors low-income or underserved artists with free memberships and/or free entry into workshops
  • Nurtures less experienced artists through the exhibit/gallery process.
  • Creates art in the community, such as “Trash to Treasure” at the Ventura Harbor Village
  • Offers free children’s art activities in the summer
Your donation contributes to the cultural richness of Ventura County. Donations for the general operating fund are always welcome, but feel free to specify such as: student scholarship fund; new roof; sponsor an artist; children's art activities. Thank you!
